Woodway Blade Skating Treadmill Training

The Woodway Blade Skating Treadmill

Our unique skating treadmill allows our trainers to teach correct skating technique while emphasizing proper shooting and puck handling.  The ability to multi-task while skating allows all athletes to be pushed to The Edge.

  • We provide one-on-one feedback on skating technique and mechanics immediately to the athletes as they train on the treadmill.  Our qualified trainers are able to analyze and provide timely feedback to maximize every athlete’s time and effort.

  • We provide multiple repetitions of hockey-specific skill training.  This includes: catching, shooting, and puck-handling while skating, vision training (eyes up, head up), and decision-making with the puck.
  • Hockey is the fastest game in the world.  The Edge trains athletes to make good decisions with and without the puck at game speed.  Athletes will receive more touches with the puck in 30 minutes at The Edge than a typical 60-minute practice.
  • The fun and challenging learning environment at The Edge is a perfect complement to an athlete’s on-ice development.  Getting kids out of the rink to advance them athletically provides them with a wider variety of experiences leading to greater success on the ice.  We train athletes to become the best hockey players they can be.
  • Our trainers will help athletes develop proper stride length, correct skating position, and stride frequency while on the treadmill.
  • The Woodway Treadmill’s skating area is large enough to allow proper stride length, backwards skating, and proper push angle.
  • Teaching the proper push angle is important in minimizing the chance of injury to hips, groins, and the back.
  • Mirrors and video analysis allow trainers to deliver instant feedback to players while they are skating.
  • Our synthetic ice area allows players to skate on the treadmill while working on puck handling, passing, and shooting while in motion.
  • The synthetic ice area benefits players by working on all aspects of hockey, most similar to how the game is played.
