Matt Doman


Matt Doman

As President, Head Trainer and founding Owner, Matt Doman brings a wealth of hockey playing and coaching experience to The Edge.  He began his career playing for Team Illinois AAA Hockey Club and was a member of the Select 15, 16, & 17 USA Hockey Teams.  He played for the US National Junior Team in 1999, and captained the US National Junior Team in 2000. 

Doman was a four-time letter winner and two-time Assistant Captain during his tenure at the University of Wisconsin Madison.  After graduating with a degree in Communications, he went on to play professional hockey for the St. John Flames of the AHL and the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL. 

Doman has extensive experience coaching hockey teams, camps and clinics.  Most recently, he worked as both Coach and the Director of Player Development for the Milwaukee Junior Admirals, and also worked as a Head Instructor with DC Hybrid Skating. 

In addition to The Edge, Doman is an Assistant Coach for the Stillwater Area High School Boys' Hockey Team.
 

Phil Housley


Phil Housley

Phil Housley is the NHL’s second top scoring U.S.-born player, with 1,232 points (338-894), and a silver medal winner in the 2002 U.S. Olympics.  As a senior in high school, Phil was drafted sixth overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1982 NHL entry draft. He had an NHL career that lasted 21 years, playing for the Winnipeg Jets, St. Louis Blues,  Calgary Flames, New Jersey Devils, Washington Capitals, Chicago Blackhawks and Toronto Maple Leafs. 

In addition to sharing his vast hockey knowledge and experience with the athletes training at The Edge, Housley is the head coach of the Stillwater Area High School boys’ varsity hockey team.

Danny Irmen


Danny Irmen

HC Bolzano (Italy) forward Danny Irmen is Head Trainer for The Edge Summer Training Camp.

While still in high school, the Fargo, ND, native led the USHL in playoff goals and captained the Lincoln (Neb.) Stars to the league championship during the 2002-2003 season. That same year, Irmen was chosen 78th overall in the draft by the Wild.

From 2003 to 2006, Irmen played for the University of Minnesota Gophers Mens' Hockey Team and received numerous honors, including being named to Third Team All-WCHA (twice), co-winner of the John Mariucci MVP award, winner of the Mike Crupi Most Determined Player award (twice), and National College Player of the Month in January 2006.

In 2006, Irmen signed with the Wild and played for the Houston Aeros until 2010.

Phil Fox


Phil Fox

Edge Head Trainer Phil Fox, a recent graduate of Northern Michigan University with a degree in physical education and coaching, was a four-time letter winner and captain of the NMU Wildcats hockey team. Prior to NMU, Fox played for USHL and NAHL teams including the Fargo-Moorhead Jets, Des Moines Buccaneers, and Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.

During his years playing for the Stillwater Area High School boys' hockey team, Fox received numerous awards, including MVP and All-Conference honors.

Dan Toninato


Dan Toninato

Dan Toninato is the Head Strength and Conditioning Trainer at The Edge. Toninato holds a M.Ed. in sport and exercise science from the Univ. of Minn.-Twin Cities and a B.S. in health and human performance from the Univ. of Wis.-River Falls. He's a NSCA-certified strength and conditioning specialist and NIHS-certified personal trainer, and also works as a personal trainer at River Valley Athletic Club in Stillwater, Minn.

Toninato has more than a decade of experience training teams and individuals in a variety of settings, including at Velocity Hockey Center, DePere (Wis.) Summer Hockey Camp, the Univ. of Wis. - River Falls, and the Univ. of Minn.

Originally from the Green Bay, Wis., area, Toninato played four years of Division III football for UW-RF and was assistant captain of his high school's WIAA Division II state championship football team. And then there was that seven-year stint as equipment assistant for the Green Bay Packers. . .

Joe Rubbelke


Joe Rubbelke

Trainer Joe Rubbelke, currently playing for the Sioux Falls Stampede, is part of The Edge Summer Training Camp team.

During his senior year at North St. Paul High School, Rubbelke captained the Polars hockey team and was named All Conference, MVP, and led the team in both points and goals scored. 

Rubbelke played for Team Minnesota during the spring of 2010, and was chosen by the Sioux Falls Stampede in the 2010 USHL draft.

David Freiberg


David Freiberg

David Freiberg is a Trainer and athlete at The Edge. During his junior year of high school, Freiberg captained the East Ridge boys' hockey team in its inaugural 2009-2010 season. Freiberg recently graduated from East Ridge High School and is attending Middlebury College in Vermont.

Luke Fedie


Luke Fedie

Trainer and Edge athlete Luke Fedie is a recent graduate of Stillwater High School. As assistant captain of the Stillwater Junior Gold A hockey team, Fedie was selected to participate in the Metro Hockey League All Star game showcasing the league's best players. This fall Fedie plans to study at the University of Northern Michigan and participate in the school's club hockey team. Having played organized hockey since the age of 4, Fedie enjoys continuing to develop his knowledge of the game through coaching and training. 

Billy Wagner

The Edge athlete and Assistant Trainer Billy Wagner plays forward for the Stillwater Ponies boys' high school hockey team.

Patrick Kegley


Patrick Kegley

Assistant Trainer Patrick Kegley plays for the Mahtomedi Zephyrs boys' high school hockey team.

Adam Slagle


Adam Slagle

Trainer Adam Slagle plays for the Twin Cities Northern Lights Junior Hockey team.

A recent graduate of North St Paul High School, Slagle was voted captain of North's hockey and track teams, received the Hobey Baker award in hockey, and won All-Conference honors in hockey and track his senior year. He lettered in both varsity hockey and track for all four years of his high school career, and for two years in varsity football.

In addition to The Edge, Slagle has worked as a counselor at Troy Ward's Hockey and Sons hockey camp at Shattuck-St. Mary's since 2008.

Maria Bothwell


Maria Bothwell

Trainer Maria Bothwell plays forward for the University of St. Thomas women's hockey team.

A 2010 graduate of North St. Paul high school, Bothwell captained the Polar girls' hockey team during her junior and senior years. She received numerous awards for her athletic and academic achievements, including All Conference MVP and the Athena Award for senior outstanding female student/athlete.

Megan Peterson


Megan Peterson

Trainer Megan Peterson has been an Edge athlete for more than two years. The 2010-2011 season was her fourth with the Stillwater Ponies Girls' High School Hockey team.

Peterson was selected to join the 2010 Minnesota Advanced 17 team, and also played at the 2010 Junior Festival.

Josh Erickson


Josh Erickson

Assistant Trainer Josh Erickson plays lacrosse for St. John's University in Collegeville, Minn. During his senior year at Mahtomedi High School, Erickson captained both the boys' hockey and lacrosse teams. Erickson also has experience as an athletic trainer for both hockey and lacrosse camps including North Star hockey camp in Stillwater, Minn., and St John's University Lacrosse Camp in Collegeville, Minn.
